it's getting less and less necessary with every iteration of ios though, with shit like flux built in now, and also harder to jailbreak

i still do it for things like unlimited skips on pandora, drop-down notifications that show who is typing in the messages app, call recording, and basically cosmetic shit like not having my apps forced into a left-to-right, top-to-bottom arrangement and cool swiping animations

but yeah, also the fact that it is has an odd mechanism (with profiles that share your apple id/pw?) and that i can't reboot my phone at any time without going through a whole process to restore jb

i patched the .tiff exploit with a cydia tweak, but i'm not sure if there are any other vulnerabilities i'm subject to by staying on 9.0.2

i just like flux, it's easier on the eyes at night. i use it on my home computer, and only disable it on weekends when i don't mind having the blue light stimulating me and keeping me up

Random question here. My dad had an old ass iphone that he hasn't used in a while.
He decided to give it to me but I have an android phone with cyanogen. Kinda old but does all the shit I need anyways.

I tried using that iphone and the battery life was pretty good but I can't really install anything because the ios is not supported anymore and can't update.

What can I do with this old ass iphone other than just leave it as a paper weight? I don't even know if it's worth anything in ebay since the shit is an old ass iphone 3gs.

The recharger cable is also cracking can I just throw tape around it and call it a day or that shit will catch fire?

You could do whatever you want, Jailbreaking and installing tweaks would be hard as well because iOS 4 was quite a while ago

Do I run something from my computer to jailbreak it, and after that somehow launching cydia (via a command from the pc or something) and installing a file manager capable of modifying the system partition?

jailbreaking in 2016 is worthless. saurik is a pile of shit and so is cydia - it's literally become worse than the google play store in terms of tweaks. more than half of the tweaks will fail or break other shit in your phone and drain your battery. im done with saurik and his nigger store cydia.

i jailbroke on 9.3.3 and my credit card was accessed from beijing 3 days later. also, immediately after i jailbroke my iPhone battery got stuck at 100% and wouldn't go down so i had to restore the phone to factory settings.

so sick of iphones. they're shit when unjailbroken, and even worse when jailbroken. unfortunately all android phones are made with cheap parts and things tend to break within a matter of days(samsung galaxy homebuttons broke/htc one overheated while playing music/nexus 5 literally shattred when i plugged in headphones)

android = shit, ios = shit there is no decent phone that exists currently
