Like just the other day, i heard my laptop chime while it was in sleep mode, i opened it up and lo in behold it wasn't in sleep mode at all. it had installed an update, restarted, and uninstalled speccy because apparently it wasn't compatible anymore, and the only reason i know this is because it was noted in the notifications pane

I just reinstalled a 100% valid retail copy of win 7 and if you let it connect to the Internet before installed two very specific kb's the update client will not work period. Never once had any reinstall issues until they changed the update manager. M$ then proceeded to tell me to upgrade and I told them to get fucked and spent hours searching for what was up. Found a 30+ page forum dedicated to finding a solution to this problem and it boils down to not letting the PC connect at all to the Web while installing the OS then installing the updates and then running the update manager.
