I have a 2010 Asus ROG G60jx. I recently installed a new 1TB HDD in it. Last night all 4 USB ports have stopped working. They provide power but nothing plugged into them is detected. Infrequently I get a failed device driver system tray notification. Also, since I changed hard drives I have not been able to get any windows 7 updates as the updater refuses to launch no matter what settings I use. Also when I tried to us the trouble shooter to diagnose the win update not working the trouble shooter refuses to launch and I get error code 0x8E5E0247. Googling this has pointed me towards it being an intel driver issue with the Intel Rapid Storage driver. But I am confused because it is a RAID driver and I am not running a RAID setup. Please help.

What are the fastest Radeon and GeForce GPUs ever made for AGP slots? I can't seem to find any good answers online besides "lol buy a new system", and now I'm honestly curious. So far the only thing I found was, Radeon wise, the HD4670, but nothing on the GeForce side. I just want to know who won the 'AGP War', if you will.

My router is causing ridiculous ping. I know for a fact it is my router because everything works perfectly fine until I plug it in (including those connected directly to the source modem/router combo). What could possibly be causing this? My first thought was a ip conflict, but my router is assigning from 10.142, not from 192.168.

i think my gpu has died on me.

connecting my gpu using dvi and hdmi results in no signal found on my monitor. connecting dvi from my motherboard and using integrated grpahics works fine.

my graphics card is not found on device manager. could this be a problem that my computer is choosing not to use my graphics card or could my pcie slot on the mobo be dead?

You want to turn off the routing function that's bult into the gateway. You probably won't be able to access its settings anymore. Then it wont really matter what you do on the router. The usb will be available to every device connected to it's router, unless you have security settings in place to stop that

Any router nesting comes with some penalty. You probably just didn't notice it before. And you can do it, it's just not ideal. Making a network within a network screws up your NAT and latency by nature.

But back to the problem at hand. Your picrelated is saying that some of your system files are corrupted. You can try running sfc from safe mode. If that doesn't work there's the 'system update readiness tool' that might. You can also manually replace the broken files

Is it better to use the default open source driver for AMD or the proprietary? Will it make a difference as far as general performance and power efficiency? I'm more concerned with the latter, not gaming here. I have an APU if that makes a difference.

I will try those. Manually replacing corrupted files sounds tedious but I'll do it. If all those don't work is it clean install time?

Yeah a clean install is a good catch all for this sort of thing. If you go that rout, I would flip through your bios and make sure any raid options get turned off, then after you reinstall 7 follow this

2. Programming - I'm a software dev. I'm assuming any pc capable of running modern games at high settings will be more than enough for any kind of programming, but what do I know.

3. Dual booting Windows/Linux. I know there are sometimes issues with BIOS when trying to dualboot Linux, but I don't have a lot of experience in this area.

2) get a 212 evo instead of an h60, or at least google some comparisons before you buy. i regret getting my h60- it's overpriced and apparently louder/weaker than a 212 evo. it looks cool in my s340 case, and it's low profile is nice, but it's apparently not that great. the stock fan is really loud too, i had to replace mine with a noctua fan. i did the research too and found out the 212 evo will fit in an s340 case, so you're good on that front.

3) i have the same case, cpu, mobo and cooler- they all look and work great together. i have a1070 with a supernova 550w and it works fine, so depending on the video card you buy, a 650w might be slightly overkill.

I'm opening up my laptop for the first time for a dusting, seems easy with all the tutorials out there even if I'm going to have to totally dismantle this thing just to get to the fan and heatsink. I'm scared so I have some questions:
Is a can of compressed air really enough? I kind of want this thing to be like new again, will any small paintbrush do for finer cleaning? Windows can get kinda hefty once you throw in updates. But disabling pagefile and hibernation assuming you don't care about hibernation and you never run out of ram. Try using rt7lite and guides to remove the elements of windows 7 that you don't want. You can massively cut down it's size that way.

been trying to get my bluetooth speaker to work with my pc for a while now. it will connect, but my pc wont send any audio over to it. why do people shit on AMD

I bought an audio and microphone splitter (female TRRS -> 2x male TRS) so I could use my headphones for video calling. It just werks™ with my old macbook, but when I plug it into my windows desktop the mic doesn't pick up any sound. I set my desktop to play back any sound from the mic and when I press a volume button on the headphones the clicking noise is played back.

Anyone else with one of these splitters know if theres just some setting I haven't changed, or is my onboard sound card a POS?

You get more weak cores rather than less strong cores.
That is how stuff works with DX11 and how it has worked for a long time now.

DX12 and Vulkan are supposed to do wonders with AMD because load will be spread on all cores but theyre not popular yet.

That said, the FX were a weird chip. Temp diodes DOA and hungry for wattage.

So, depends on the game I guess but as a whole, I think the i5/i7 architecture was somewhat more efficient with thread efficiency at the time.

I bought a good PC from a friend and he gave it to me for a super low price as he was gonna move out of the country.

The PC is great and boots up to desktop within 6 seconds due to Sandybridge or something.

However when I play video games or do some intense work (if GPU based) on the computer the GPU will reach to 80 celsius.

I've read that the computer will start to cap the GPUs power once it hits 80 celsius to not overheat it so I am wondering if anyone have any good fan installation tutorials or recommendations.

Anything that handles chassi fans and gpu ones would be great.

What's the best android app for recording gameplay in an un-rooted tablet? I could use my Shield K1's built-in recorder but for some reason some of the games I tried to record gets an "out of storage space" message no matter what I do.

I could start the recording in the launcher before loading the game but that's pretty much a hassle.

I need a computer for video editing at home. At work, we all use 27 inch iMacs and Mac Pros. However, I find Macs to be a bit expensive, and was wondering if I could transition to a self-built PC at home. Is it possible to easily switch between editing the same content on Mac and PC (as long as you don't use something like FCPX)? Are there any good guides on how to choose parts for an editing PC build? Basically every guide online I find is gaming oriented, and I'm not sure if editing and gaming need similar specs.

So I installed windows 10 while it was free and already (kinda) deactivated cortana. I think I need to fuck with the registry to fully deactivate it.
Today I learned that you need to fully deactivate the position 'feature' to not have lagspikes every few minutes.

The support guy assured me the process of changing my number would take up to 24 hours so I could have time to unlink some of my accounts that I have attached to my phone number for security.

First build, PC posted first time but only seemed to pick up 1 stick of RAM. Reseated the stick, but now my PC doesn't post (no display when plugged into GPU/mobo) and is stuck in a reboot loop every 10 sec or so. CPU_LED stays red. All the fans spin. I swapped the sticks around in different slots and tried one at a time, still persists.

What do you guys think it could be? I've ordered a new mobo and some RAM just to narrow down things a little. Everything's under warranty so if it's the PSU/CPU, I'll return them. Really hoping that it's not those two, though.

Of course Windows programs don't work on linux by deafault, but there are many free alternative, and with some tinkering in W.I.N.E. many windows programs are supported. Are the Seagate 3TB drives still shit? WD doesn't offer their Blues in 3TB at 7200RPM.

Guys, now that the W10 nagware has ended, windows update is working again and notifying me of new updates being available for download. Does anyone have a list of updates that I should avoid to minimize snooping and future nagging? I know it can't be avoided, but I'd like to avoid the very worst updates.
