I am going on holidays and I want a distro that can play media on 1080p (movies and series) and play some games on Wine with a good perfomance and looks minimaly good.

Is Mint a good choice?

Any of the *buntus should be fine for you. I prefer Ubuntu Mate myself. Xubuntu is also a good option.
