Known for shitloads of false positives. The one about "suckit rootkit" is almost certianly one. You need to actually investigate to see if there are legit infections there. It's very unlikely malware has infected your BIOS or firmware unless you pissed off a 1st world country or two.

This means nothing. Tons of USB drives require this before they work under Windows. Your wifi flashing immediatley after is not proof that anything is happening. Explorer.exe goes missing (on another machine) when I did nothing with the machine and it worked perfectly before

Download BIOS updating utility from your vendor's website.
Download DBAN
Download an UNTOUCHED windows ISO file.

Use your wife son's computer to create a DBAN usb stick.

Wipe with 1 pass.

Install Windows 7.
DO NOT CONNECT TO WIFI.
Use BIOS updating utility to flash bios.
If possible use pre-boot update method.

Wipe again using DBAN.

Proceed to install Lubuntu.

Re-flash your wifi routers firmware offline. Disconnect it from your ISP's router, download the firmware from your wife son's house.

You could also look into getting a new router from your ISP. Request an IP reset.
