There's now a deep review of all myths and bullshit spread against BSD and why there's no rational reason not to use it over Linux:

Daily reminder you can use PC-BSD if you want a system that just works is very polished: https://www.pcbsd.org/
The words of every single user who has tried it:
>and honestly the OS just feels put together more nicely. Almost as if Linux was held together by tape, and BSD is held together by industrial strength glue

Why are FreeBSD so butthurt about people preferring Linux?
I run FreeBSD on my servers, and Linux on my works station because I'm not autistic and can only use a single OS.

>why there's no rational reason not to use it over Linux
I don't care. What are reasons to use it over Linux?
>There's now a deep review
That link has snapshots on waybackmachine dating to 2010. As usual BSD users brains are as slow as their system and it takes 6 years to process something so simple.

>Maybe BSD doesn't have support on a par with Linux on that. Maybe it does. I dunno, and it'll probably change between the time I write this and the time you read it.
10/10 would laugh at again

The less people who use GPL'd software the quicker the cancerous FSF will die
>>55864380
I like the GPL.

Probably bait
>"But Linux has more programs than BSD!"
>How do you figure? Most of these "programs" you're so hot about are things that are open source or source-available anyway. If it's written reasonably portably, 95% or better of it will compile right off on any vaguely POSIX-compliant system.
Because everyone has a shit ton of time to compile programs, r-right?
Some of us have actual work to do; if I want to install a new program, it shouldn't take me more than 5 seconds.
>>55864425
That's surely how you convince me to use BSD.

There you go.

The GPL is socialist, not communist.
As communism and anarchism are the same, the BSD/MIT licences are more communist.
>>55864829
>society
>community
what's the difference? peaceful socialism is a step toward violent communism
communism and anarchism are two completely different perspectives
>>55864265
I would use BSD if the graphics driver support was as good as Linux.
>>55864431
Also this. Updating is a pain in the ass
>>55864829
Anarchism is not the same as Communism. Its a spectrum just as socialism and communism are in the liberal spectrum.
>>55864829
The BSD license is more libertarian than communistic.
>>55864958
No, libertarians would be closed source, not BSD.
>>55864325
Wouldn't you?
>>55864265
Just switch to linux already
>>55864946
>Its a spectrum just as socialism and communism are in the liberal spectrum.
Haha, no.
>>55864425
Don't beat yourself up, you'll grow out of it in a few years.
>>55864974
Libertarian would allow you to do what you want. You're thinking of corporatism

Because these are shills who get paid to shill BSD.

why the need to shill your shit OS? nobody wants to run an OS barely on par with windows 3.1 features

PC-BSD is just FreeBSD with a GUI. It's the Linux Mint of BSDs. I prefer OpenBSD because of how simple it is. Literally got it installed in 10 minutes. It's amazing.
