It could certainly wear it out premature if done excessively.

In case the thread is serious, there is absolutely no reason to manually degauss a CRT unless it is actually showing some sort of purity or geometry issue. Any relatively modern CRT will degauss automatically each time it is turned on, and that is sufficient under normal circumstances.
