Those very old dell mouses leave a lot to be desired, but to be honest those old core 2 duos are still quite useable. I'd replace the mouse first (with a slightly newer dell mouse for example).

My battlestation evolved as a series of upgrades to a Pentium 4 HT Dell Dimension desktop; now the only original parts left are my Audigy 2 ZS sound card and a 500GB HDD.

Panasonic BT-H1390YN. it's a broadcast monitor and the case is due to it's ability to be rack mounted.

It's a fantastic monitor for retro videogames and computers, and normal 480i video looks good on it too.

I've also got a Sony PVM-1044Q and PVM-20L5 in the same form factor. All of these were free, but if you look for one online Panasonic/JVC models (often a JVC monitor is identical to a panasonic-made one) are far cheaper than the sonys because the sony PVM line has become a retro gaming meme monitor series.

BTW, my brother has a Razer gayming mouse (ouroboros). Having used it before forming my opinion, I can honestly say that the 'gaming mouse' price does not bring enough to warrant the massive price. If you light your PC like a christmas tree or landing strip, maybe you should get the gaming mouse to complete the '1337 gaymer' image you want to show. Otherwise, the cheap generic dell mouse performs wonderfully.

Those extra buttons just get pressed accidentally when I use mouses with them; I always end up opening them and desoldering the tactile switches for them. 1000dpi is plenty high enough, but if you really need more, logitech offers plenty of mouses without LEDs in that range.

Do you rest your palm on the base of the mouse whenever you use it? if so, maybe it is too low. But the way I hold a mouse it works just fine.
