To begin, I would like to apologize in advance if this isn't the right place for this question. I'm kinda running out luck trying to find an answer for this.

Now then, I'm using an old version of Chrome, for a few different reasons.

>44.0.2403.157_chrome64_installer

This the name of the version's installer.

Anyway, for whatever reason and for sometime now, widevine doesn't seem to work, and so I cannot go onto places like Netflix on my Chrome, even though I do pretty much everthing else on it. This causes me to need to use IE or Firefox when I wish to use Netflix.

Going to Chrome://Components and looking at widevine gives me this.

>WidevineCdm - Version: 0.0.0.0

Updating doesn't fix this, and besides, I had to gut googleupdates to prevent it from autoupdating everytime I restart Chrome (and it still sneaks back on from time to time, anyway).

Is there a way to fix the widevine component so I can watch Neflix and similar without loading a different browser?

Thanks a million in advance for your time and any help with this!

No idea what this is, but anyway...

Well, for now, I'm going to take well needed nap.

Hopefully, there will be some helpful responses when I return. Also, I hope this thread will still be here. I really do need the help.

I guess I'll bump this again.

Once again, this doesn't actually help.
I suppose someone might come along.
Install Gentoo or update chrome. Do you enjoy staying out of date with potential security holes?

Is that really my only option?

Also, I'm guessing not many have come across this. Even google wasn't very helpful.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
