VR

I have been curious about this too. Mainly for how well it's been developed in terms of custom programming. I've been waiting for like 6 years to finally explore skyrim through vr.

I will say right now it's probably nothing too exciting game other than to build the market for vr. Now that its a consumer product we will see more companies compete etc. In my opinion if you can afford it it's probably worth just to play around with to get a taste, but there will be better versions I feel in the next year or two.

I work with the Oculus, Vive and OSVR headsets (writing software for them) OSVR isnt there yet but the Vive and Oculus are consumer ready imo. The Vive could be higher res but I like it's games. There are some valuable experiences for it and Valve has been very open and fair with development. The Oculus is lighter and higher res but their store is kinda meh and they've been very draconian with their developers. I want a vive I just don't have the space for it

Vive >>>> the rest by far. It's fucking amazing. Oculus is alright but it's fucking Facebook and doesn't officially support room scale tracking, and if you want controllers it ends up the same price as the Vive anyways.

Other anon is wrong, resolution and screen quality is basically the same. Some vive devs are dumb though I've noticed and have their games render at a lower resolution. Try holding alt on startup and notice that since most of the games are Unity you'll open up the resolution dialog so you can bump it up.

He probably means the pixel density, there is a small perceivable difference between the Vive and rift.

Both have same resolution but the pixels are distributed over a different FoV primarily due to the optics being different.

Not a huge difference though, never tried the rift only have the Vive so I can only compare based on subjective opinions.

Vive display is barely tolerable, I am fine with the FoV as is, doesn't bother me though a larger FoV would be nice.

The displays really need a huge bump in resolution, looks a little blurry at the moment. The front heavy weight distribution is another huge glaring issue for me comfort wise.
