Used fx6300+board + nvidia gpu, or new i3 6100
>>
>8 cores
>5! GHZ!

It's the best CPU on the market OP. Go for it.
>>
wait for Zen or buy the 5930k like somebody who only has slight autism
>>
>>55825635
Yes, or an 8350 and a descent watercooler to give it the clock
>>55825670
>op posts many cored cpu
>get an i3 Anon
Were all jews dropped on their fucking head.
>>
>>55825789
The i3 6100 is only 54w and is faster as an fx 8350
>>
>>55825952
>muh gaymen
Try gaymen and streaming with an i3 then a 8350 fucknugget.

Then throw a few open browsers, several ircs and teamspeak into the mix.
>>
Just buy a used intel workstation on ebay. I got a quad core sandybridge xenon desktop for ~160.
>>
>>55825980
Fx9590 is barely faster than an i3 6100, limited to ddr3, and consumes 6x as much energy.

Why would you shill a processor that didn't even include a cooler because they couldn't fit a water cooler inside the box?

I3 6100 is the better choice here, and if you can bump up to an i5 6600k then that's what you should get
>>
>>55826359
I said 8350 and it comes with a cooler.

An i3 is not the better choice as soon as you start multitasking.
Also i3's will become in a a year or two because every new wave programmer is bloating the shit out of their programs with shity gui's and the like.

I've got an i3 and all I can say is that's it's ok for what's been. I can't recommend it for any real lifespan from now on.

And if you're into computing the unlocked AMD's are probably the safest to overclock for learning. and no biggie if you fuck it up somehow.

It's not about what's best on a single core. It's about having something useful.
>>
>>55826456
Also i3's will become obsolete*
>>
>>55825635
>FX-9590 and MSI motherboard

Yea you'll be in for a terrible time. MSI is known for making garbage tier AMD motherboard. They're known for their terrible VRMs. That 220w monster will pop them in record time.

For $300 you can get an i5-6600k and halfway decent z series board. (From Microcenter). Otherwise grab an fx-8320e and any 990fx series motherboard that ISN'T from MSI. For the love of God.

>coming from someone who has had an fx-9370 up and over 5.4ghz on a sabertooth 990fx board.

I ran a large custom liquid loop and barely managed to keep my cpu under 60C during prime95 testing or video encoding. Any run of the mill 8320e should do 4.6ghz while using way less voltage/heat output.
>>
>>55825635
Assuming this is real, of course you should go intel, you can get a Xeon 1231v3 + H97 Asrock Anivery board for the same price and get better single threaded performance

You'd only want to go AMD if you don't want to spend more than $200, want to play with overclocking, and don't care about per core performance

PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/GvXYP6
Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/GvXYP6/by_merchant/

CPU: AMD FX-8300 3.3GHz 8-Core Processor ($119.88 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock 970A-G/3.1 ATX AM3+/AM3 Motherboard ($73.99 @ SuperBiiz)
>>
>>55826587
I'd recommend OP no less than a 990fx board. 990fx has better OC potential and usually much better cooled northbridge and VRM sections.
>>
>>55826619
Naw dude that 970 board is the shit, I can OC my 8300 to 4.5ghz 1.4xxV and not have any stability issues

it also has the option for M.2 and USB 3.1, there is no better AM3+ board because you only want to go low budget with AMD
>>
>>55826525
>I ran a large custom liquid loop and barely managed to keep my cpu under 60C during prime95
I dare say that's because you're running cards and cpu in the same rad loop.
You should be able to get it cooler with a second rad just for the cards. But that'll take either a new case, or a major rethink.

Still 60c is fine for a sustained 100% usage.
What was the water temp?
>>
>>55826632
Ah ok. Thought it was just some generic board with no features.

But for the love of all the Gods OP, DO NOT BUY MSI AMD BOARDS.
>>
>>55826665

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-6100-vs-AMD-FX-8350/3511vs1489

Barely faster for multitasking, almost 3x power consumption, stock cooler sounds like a jet engine.

Also, still limited to ddr3.

If you buy an i3 6100, in 3 years you can get a cheap i5 6500 or i7 6700.

It worked for me, last year I upgraded from an i3 2120 to an i7 2600 for 90aud.
>>
>>55826649
The loop was with 2 rads. Alphacool UT60 240mm and 360mm. Sharing the loop with 2 gtx 670s. Cards. Unsure of water temps. Didn't have a dedicated reader. Just went based on cpu and gpu reporting temps. Both rads had fans in push pull and the pump turned way low to keep the water in the rads longer. (Low flow optimized system)

My rads were only 9fpi though disregarding their 60mm thickness, so there is that.
>>
>buying 9xxx fx chips
you know, you'd need a decent motherboard and a good watercooler to even run that furnace under a decent temperature. with all that added cost, you could've bought a haswell or even skylake i5. just fucking get an 8350 or 6300 if you are on a budget

I've got one of the 970's and the 8350.

Still cant give feedback on it, I've got post problems atm. Could be the cpu.

I wanted the 9590, but it would have blew out my budget being Australian.
Still saved around $1000+ Buy not shopping at Harvey Norman. (ebay)
I tried newegg but the international shipping is a scamm. prices were only a few dollers cheaper than ebay.

Only issue that seems to stick when brought up, is the south bridge getting toasty. But I think whacking a fan on the back of the ssd racks should remedy that.

well maybe because u dont have ur cpu heatsink installed

>If you buy an i3 6100, in 3 years you can get a cheap i5 6500 or i7 6700.
But if you buy an AMD 8350 you'll have a useful cpu in 5 years, and still be able to upgrade to whatever you want.

It's not about having what's marginally better. It's about buying wisely and future proofing.
Sure it draws a bit more power, But are you really going to put that $2 a week into your savings for the next overpriced intell?
>>
>>55826825
>already 4 years old

Delusional.
>>
>>55826781
So that thing that came with the cpu is a heat sink? I've plugged it into a powersupply and this little gizmo starts spinning really fast with little to no noise. and a whole bunce of air stats pumping out the sides of the shiny bit. But because it doesn't sound like a jet engine I assume it's broken, so I've ordered a corsair h100i

>>55826724
Low flow may have been the issue. I get the principle of it, but if your water in the cpu plate is warmish, the heat transfer is diminished(hot likes going into cold, better than hot to hot). I'd personally bump it up a bit to see how that fairs.

You have a huge amount of cooling available So the up in water speed won't be a problem on that side.

The stock cooler really isn't loud. It's noticeable in a dead quiet room when it kicks up, but case fans are louder when it's on cruise control.

But most of us have some form of audio going so it's a non issue. it's just a meme from older stock coolers.
Still stock coolers are rubbish, hence why I'm getting a h100i.
And yes I'm using the stock cooler for posting. My cooler isn't here, and it's easier to use the small stock cooler when trouble shooting instead of having water cooling hanging in the way.

in 3 years intel will have gone through 2 more platform changes, you'd have to buy a new motherboard anyways
>>

>I wanted the 9590, but it would have blew out my budget being Australian.
Be happy you didn't get it, it's a shit CPU that was just a marketing gimmick
>>
If your primary usage is heavy gaming and your budget is over $200 then don't get any AMD CPU pre-Zen and definitely don't get a 9590 because that thing is just awful in every way. Just get an unlocked i5 used and a nice Z series board since processors are the same shit regardless of whether you buy them new or used.

I'm speaking from firsthand experience, I had an FX-8350 @ 4.8 and switched a couple of months ago to a 4670k which I now have running at 4.4 and the difference was huge and I consider it to be worth every penny.

Dark Souls 3 went from 40fps in half the areas in the game to a silky smooth 60fps without any dips whatsoever. LA Noire with the framerate unlocker also went from 30-40fps to 60 without dips. Emulation in general also saw a significant boost which was big for me because I still enjoy playing older Gamecube and PS2 games and with WiiU emulation getting better and better every single day I'm even more excited. Unoptimized AAA shit like Arkham Knight and AC:Unity only furthers the gap between the two.

300 (USD, I'm assuming) can get you a 4670k/4690k and a Z97 board if you're willing to look around. I bought both of mine used a couple of months ago and grabbed a Z97S SLI Krait for $80 and a 4670k for $175.

Skylake, DDR4, and an i3-6100 is also a good route because everything I've heard about that CPU makes it out to be baller as fuck for budget gaming builds. Just grab a 6700k whenever you can afford it and you're pretty much golden for the next 5 years or something.
>>
>>55827251
This.
Go with Intel, AMD makes shitty budget CPUs.
Glad I switched after many years.
>>
>>55827233
Why would he need a new board? He can just upgrade the cpu for cheap
>>
>>55827308
Because intel will have changed platforms again

also an i3 while faster in games that only use 4 threads, doesn't have the multi-threaded performance of an FX 8 core at 4+ghz
>>
>>55827329
But his mother board wouldn't have changed?

I'm confused by your logic...
>>
>>55825635
>AMD in 2016

You'd have to be a complete moron to buy anything AMD.
>>
>>55827394
In 3 years time, 1152 will have been out, as well as AM4, so there's a good chance you'd want to buy a newer platform if you had the $300 for the i7 or Zen whatever if Zen is decent
>>
An Intel chip won't burn your fucking house down like this thing.
>>
>>55827394
>Socket 1550 and 1551

He means things like that.
>>
>>55827411
Why not just buy an 1151 i7 for a cheap upgrade instead?

Just like an i7 2600 will outperform an i3 6100, and an i5 4460, the i7 6700 should outperform the i5 and i3 from 1152.
>>
Seeing some criticism on MSI AMD boards. How are their intel boards?
>>
>>55827453
I've got an MSI h87 pro 33 or some shit for my i7 4770, it's still working fine so I can't really complain.

5/7 would buy again

you can stream just fine with an i3, all modern igpus and dgpus have video encoder asics built into them so it doesn't put any extra load on the cpu.
