Is gnome 3 a horrible choice for a 1600x900 laptop?
>>55821476
Not really, gnome scales really well
>>55821476
yes, use i3.
>>55821553
Not my style. prefer openbox. but sort of lazy and want a nice just werks setup
unless antergos openbox is nice.

I wish everything in Gnome 3 scaled perfectly to 4k
>>55821476
yeah I think it feels so cramped, all the title bars and buttons are huge. Gnome is alright on >1920x1080 monitors, but it feels so clumsy on my laptop,

So maybe cinnamon would be an alright choice? r basic xfce4?
>>55821790
yeah, personally I like xfce but each to their own. MATE is worth checking out too and Unity is actually extremely usable (although that default theme is pretty gross). I love how the menu bar gets put in the top bar and having the dock on the side makes a lot of sense on a 16x9 monitor.

Try unity, it sounds like b8 but I tried gnome and a few things bothered me, and they were basically fixed in unity, unity can be set up to work almost identically to gnome anyways if you like how gnome works, but seriously give unity a try it feels pretty nice
>>55821476
not if you put the bar on the side
