I just switched from a T400 to a T450s and the keyboard is a little worse. Typing is fine. I welcome the silence, but layout is a little worse.

Btw OP I recommend you get the T450s if you want a bright IPS display.

The T450s is not perfect but the least awful to me right now, coming from a T400.

It's OK. Not as good looking and good feeling as the previous thinkpads, but should get the job done.

However, I hate the sharp front edge. The round lip you had with the clamshell was so much more comfortable so rest your wrist on. also, the keyboard is pretty shallow, but so is the T460s.

If you remove them from power imidiately, and clean the whole thing with distilled water and after this, pure alocohol (dont drink it, Iwan!), mishaps like this can normally be salvaged. Rescued my X200 after spilling beer on it in 2010, and its running perfectly ever since.

Does this work with linux now?
I got mine in spring, and I choose broadwell, since skylake was all kinds of buggy.
And I got the X1, since the T450s was virtually impossible to the with a fullHD screen, but I kinda regret it, thanks to the edge.

I have the X1 only gen 2, will be upgrading probably gen 5 even though nothing wrong with this, would recommend in a heart beat and perfect for travel.

You deserve it if you stick with a vendor provided OS install. It's always first order of business to format and reinstall or install another OS of choice. Also flashing the latest BIOS is wise, never know if it was flashed by DHS/NSA in transit.
