Tried to install windows 7 over windows 10 from the win 10 desktop. It failed when trying to reboot into the installer. It didn't make any changes but when I boot my system it asks if I want to boot win 10 or windows installer. How do I remove the installer boot option? Its the first option and if I'm not paying attention it auto selects it and gives me an error message and turns off my computer.

What's a good, reasonably priced, Atx Mid tower case that will look good with this GPU? I normally like clean looking Fractal cases like the Define series, but this gpu has that crazy ass color scheme and it would look out of place.

What's the best precaution to take when buying a used video card from Craigslist?

Guy is selling an RX 480 for $150. There's no other pictures besides the box and the description literally just says "I have an RX 480 for sale." I sent an E-mail about it and he said "it's working in my computer".

I recently dealt with a "working" video card I bought off eBay and it had visual artifacts, so I had to get a refund on it. I'm pretty skeptical of the used video cards now but $150 for an RX 480 8GB with the box is a killer deal for me. What are some things I can do to at least ease some of that skepticism involving the card? I just asked him if he could send a photo or video of it in use but no response yet. Anything else?

Why are source based distro "faster" than binary based?

So the other day I helped my friend finish build his PC. His specs are a i7 4790k, GTX 980 16g ram and two hdd. One for his OS that is 2gb and the second a 4g for his games. Both are 7200 rpm. So the first game he installed was resident evil 5 to his second hdd. He notice that the game stutters whenever an action is performed or an audio is used by npc's. So after much stress I uninstalled the game from the second drive and installed it in the main drive where his OS is (Windows 10 btw) and weirdly enough he didn't get any stutters or audio stutter at all. I thought all games would perform better on a second dedicated drive for games? Can someone please explain and help me out.

Use the remote for the TV. Somewhere in the settings it should have an option named something like "Auto Adjust" "PC Adjust".

This is called overscan desu. It's caused by the TV doing it's own processing on the image it receives from the PC. Monitors don't do this (hence no overscan on monitors), but TVs do.

Different ways disabling this processing on different TVs. Some will have a 'just scan' mode. Others will require you to name the input as 'PC' (that's how it works on my TV). Just play with your TV's settings and see what works for you. Or google "[TV Brand] PC overscan".

On a separate note, this is why I own a Mac. It's the little things like having overscan adjustment slider in display settings that add up to a much nicer experience overall.

Is there any possible way to make a 10 meter dual link DVI-D cable work without some sort of amplifier?

Basically it has the strangest behavior, not even consistent between systems (on Windows some resolutions and refresh rates will work, on linux some others) and the native resolution just won't work at all. I know it's an issue with the fact it's a long ass cable but still if there's any solution other than returning this and spending $100, I'd love to hear it.

I think I know my problem, none of my drivers for my computer are installed/up to date. This includes the drivers for my pci-adapter and my ethernet port on my motherboard. The only problem is, I can't connect my computer to the internet enable to download those drivers. I tried downloading the drivers on my laptop and then putting them onto a usb to download onto my computer, but the usb is not being detected by my computer, presumably because the usb port drivers are not updated. So It's a catch-22, I can't connect to the internet because my drivers are not updated, but I need to connect to the internet enable to update them.

Can someone answer me this, I have my SSD installed, it's my boot drive that has W10 on it. The second drive I have is a HDD which I want to use to store all my stuff that doesn't need fast accessing, but the thing is that when I boot my PC, the HDD isn't recognised, ever.

I opened it up and moved it to a different SATA port on my mobo and after a restart it showed up, but then I turned it on today and it doesn't show up, not even in BIOS. Need help diagnosing a potential problem with my brother's PC. He said that he turned it off through Windows, flipped the PSU power switch on the back, then waited a few minutes. He went to turn it back on, but it didn't.

I opened it up, and it seems like power is getting to the motherboard because some LEDs are lighting up so I think that's okay. I replaced the PSU just a few months ago, and it's 80 Plus Platinum. previously had a basic intel cpu cooler for my i7 3770. pc kept shutting of dut to heating so i bought a cryorig H7. fixed my problem.

the thing is my temps are still pretty high. they hover around 38-45C. which is what my old cpu temps were with a basic cpu cooler.

That BIOS doesn't need drivers to detect the bootable Linux USB and Linux works out of the box with most network adapters/ethernet.

They are the black boxes where you connect your case USB ports to the motherboard, USB 3.0+ ones are blue.

How you went past the installation without noticing problem beats me but you should have a option to manage USB ports in BIOS.

You download the Linux Mint ISO in your laptop, Move the ISO to the USB with Rufus so it is bootable and boot it from your motherboard in the PC you cant use.

The boot order is the order of things in which they are looked at when the computer starts up. The computer keeps going down the list until it finds something it can start from. So your hard drive would probably be the first place it looks, but if there's nothing on your hard drive, it might look at the next place, which could be a DVD drive (but won't be in your case, obviously) and see if it can boot up an operating system from there. If you change the list so the USB drive is first, and if you have an operating system on the USB, that's the operating system that will start when you switch your computer on.

When I plug my PS3 into the HDMI port of my monitor, I get these fuzzy green artefacts, but when I plug it into the DVI port with the same cable (DVI adapter), it works fine.

What the fook is going on? They're both digital inputs, I don't see what could be going on here to make it fucked up with one, but not the other.
