In my laptop, bleh, if I'm going somewhere I need to load up a handful of movie/shows. I can't ever fucking focus when I'm traveling.
That said, my laptop's got a 128GiB SSD and that's fine.
I'd argue my phone, that thing chews through storage when I'm recording video, but again, that's just got a 128GiB card in it (plus 32GB of eMMC).
I'm mad because I could fucking well use a 512GB card in it.
Wait shit, I just realized, I'm recovering data off the 128GB card right now and there's so much it's being a real pain to get it all off, and the only reason I need more storage on it is so I don't have to copy my videos off it as frequently, which is a pretty shitty habbit to get into.
I mean, I tell myself I'll image the thing monthly for all the non video littlefiles, but I never do.
You's right anon, fuck more than 128GB.

I'm a pro photographer and would never trust my imagery to Pajeet. I have two 2TB hard drives and two 5TB drives (redundancy) just to store everything I have. It's getting a bit out of hand, so I might just simplify things and get a NAS with like 20TB or so and be done with it for a few years. Data flies when you work with visual media and actually have shit to do.

Serious question. I'm talking about how the internet isn't everywhere, and you're rambling about firewalls and other irrelevant shit. To answer your first question, no I'm not always on the internet, be it on the plane or at the cafe where the internet is 25 kb/s. If your whole computer life revolves around the internet you are seriously missing a lot of the applications of a computer.

>>
>>55793041
so your point is that I should spend $200+ on server hardware plus $50 on an HDD instead of just $50 on an HDD, in addition to electricity costs? That's genius, why didn't I think of that?!
>>
>>55793081
>but you can stream shows
a.) that eats mobile data really fast
b.) it's not too hard to find zones of spotty coverage on most routes. Or tunnels with no signal at all.

The same logic applies to planes. Most do have wi-fi nowadays, but it's meant for the business-class crowd with expense accounts who're checking email. It's satellite, so it's both slow and high-latency and very expensive.

I bet you could find overloaded wi-fi networks in a lot of cities that are just plain too slow and choppy to stream.
>>
If you work on more than one big project (libreoffice-core is several GB) a 128GiB SSD can get cramped. Add to that the fact that I often move some films to the desktop telling myself I'll watch in the next few days and 500GiB becomes a minimum.
>>
>>55791885
Seriously?
Yes, I have a 120GB SSD in both my laptop and my desktop, but I also have a 1TB disk in my desktop because sometimes you need to install a huge application.

>>
>>55792964
heh... my portable USB 3.0 HDD has more storage than all your disks together... heheheheh.
>>
I run a laptop with 128gb.

Movies and tv-shows are on a dedicated 24/7 server machine with plex at home and downloaded automatically with sickrage, couchpotato and deluge. If I don't have internet connection, there's about 20gb space dedicated on the laptop for offline syncing.

Backups are done in dropbox (usually archived with 7zip), stuff I'm actively working on are stored in onedrive because of simplicity.

I have 7 games installed on my laptopt currently (overwatch, darkest dungeon, cities: skylines, theme hospital, overlord, dungeon keeper, tropico 5)

I have 6 different VMs on the machine for testing purposes.

All of this and I still got over 40gb left on the machine.

My desktop PC has 3 SSDs in raid 0 totaling up to 1tb, but I barely even use 200gb.

Stop hoarding shit, guys.
>>

Running sshd on 443 works in most places but stunnel works everywhere you can browse the internet. You can even run a normal https server and stunnel at the same time, using domain names to differentiate them.
