For the price of a new mobo added in get ddr4 and a recent CPU while you are at it. It isn't much better but there really is no reason not to.

Not really true, motherboards are similar cost and RAM is basically identical and in some cases DDR4 is even cheaper.

Hmmm seems you're right.
>>

not really because you would have to buy completely new ram if you already had a ddr3 board

The unused fan header is used for the fan on my case door. So I should run the cables on top of my GPU?

I'd save up and go z170 which will have another generation to upgrade to and ddr4 forever

>>

That's because of the pixel fill rate. You can't output proc from 2 cards to 1 port. No way. The data has to go back over the bridge. A long ass bus. SLI is a scam

Reference GTX 1070

I was going to lay this rig to rest back when it had a 560ti, 8GB Ram and a 450W PSU. I found 32GB of Ram and a 1000W PSU for $25 on Craigslist and had a $200 Best Buy gift card laying around from an XMAS present so I said screw it and bought a reference GTX 1070 (only thing Best Buy had).

I figure I can get a few more years out of this rig.

No fancy wire tuck case, but I tried the best I could. It's some no-brand generic black case I bought for the original build in 2011.

You're at least set until the start of 2017. Really for gaming you don't need much more, even now. If I were you I would consider Kabylake a while after that's out. The increase in single core performance will be substantial enough to justify it. Just retire that 2600k to NAS / home server duties.

Soooo... You're trying to use a video where a system with a 2600K scores higher in 3DMark than a system with the exact same GPU and a 6700K to prove that the 2600K will bottleneck said GPU? Outside of the CPU bound tests on the lower resolutions, the differences are inside the margin of error. That's not a CPU bottleneck, that's just a CPU heavy workload. You're like those faggots whining that one CPU is better for gaming than another because it gets an extra 5 FPS when running at 640 x 480.

Still don't have my cooler and ssd's yet.

Part list:
MSI 970 mobo
Asus r7 256bit 4gig.
AMD FX8350
Corsair H100i watercooler (240mm)
Corsair Vengance 1600 cas 9 4X4gb
Corsair vs650 PSU
Kingston 240gb ssd X2
WD 1TB HDD
TP-link 300mbs pci card.

Case is a Deepcool Kendomen RD Mid Tower

I can't really recommend the case other than it's dirt cheep and comes with 5 fans. The closet is small other than the bulge so that limited my wireing.

Next time round I'd also get a modular PSU.

Did you seriously just stop watching after you saw the 3DMark score? Not only is it completely apparent that there is a bottleneck at 1080p and at higher resolutions but it's pretty obvious that if there is an apparent bottleneck in this situation that it would be further exacerbated if you put a 1070 in instead of a 970. Instead of admitting that you pull stupidly low resolutions like 480p out of your ass. Jesus you're a fucking tool.

An i3-6300 vastly outperforms the 8350 in single core, costs $10-$20 less. Could have gotten a 4670/4690 as well for a couple more pesos but much better performance. H110 mobos can be obtained for less than the MSI 970 board. DDR4 is no more expensive than DDR3 and in a lot of cases is cheaper per gigabyte. At least on the H110 board you have an option to upgrade later. But with AM3+ the next best thing you have available is a 9350 and that's a house fire. Ya goofed it anon.

reference cards are fine

let's look at reference 480 8gb vs aftermarket

>reference has been out for a while now, aftermarkets won't ship many units until mid august

those are all pretty big deals. now lets look at the benefits of aftermarket
>lil bit quieter (most people don't run at 100% usage anyway so it's far fetched to begin with)

it's all a meme. thousands of people have their reference 480s right now and they're enjoying them and it's all fine and dandy. that anon has been enjoying his 480 and will continue to enjoy his 480 whereas waiting for aftermarketfags will be waiting and waiting and waiting for ages unless they're willing to pay scalper prices.

Regardless of how well you cool it, it's always going to output the "same amount" of heat to the ambient area. 150w TDP component kept at 45c will heat up a room just as much as the 150w TDP component @ 85c at the same load and same amount of time.

That's because AMD /can't/ compete, so Intel and Nvidia have no reason to. Outside of AMD pulling a rabbit out of their ass and knocking it out of the park on Zen and Polaris (unlikely), I think the best thing that could happen is if Intel got into the GPU space.

I got my storage today, just waiting on a SATA cable. I'll be running the stock cool for a bit, so when my cooler comes I'll rewire as much as I can, suck as cutting off the alt power plugs on the fans. also that rats nest in the bottem is going in the closet.
I may even redo the placement of the usb3 and power button wires.

And I may need to reconfuckulate the disc drive down a notch, it's pulling the power cord up too much ascetically. But I'll have to wait until the cable stretches out from its packaged state. Unfortunately the VS 650 (non modular)is a but short in that regard.
It would have been fine if I wasn't going to have as much storage as I am, or a more compact case.
(only 4 sata plugs)
It could have more for better flexibility when rigging.

Because they lack any understanding of the technology at hand. This literally ties into all kinds of questions about "bottlenecks", not just simple gaming benchmarks where performance is measured by frames per second.

Why would you upgrade a 3570K to a 6600K? that would be a sidegrade, upgrade to an i7 atleast if you REALLY want to upgrade.
>>
>>55801980
6800K is a 2011-3 cpu anon

I figure it ain't the nicest thing out there, cable management could be better, but i just can't unwrap the crapton at bottom,it has nowhere to go.
>>
>>55788787
get the enthooo, it has tempered glass and an overall nicer aesthetic IMO
mastercase would be good if you actually would use the handles on it though
>>
>>55787574

It's true though, as usual nvidia started something adn then AMD did their best to one up it with Fury X, so hot it required water cooling.

If I am not overclocking should I worry about cooling for the VRM area around the CPU at all or should I just get an AIO?

I'm looking at buying a new asus 970 for $220, is my CPU going to limit me when playing new releases? Or am I good holding off on updating anything else
>>
>>55803812
I think you really only need to worry about the VRM with extreme overclocking, anything you can achieve with an AiO won't be high enough to have to worry about that.

OP's case doesn't have room for an AIO.
