Quality post right here. I would add get a mac if you simply don't have the time to learn (American's are severely overworked right now). You can get a used Mac Pro (early 2008) on eBay for less than the cost of a PS4. Then grab a PCI card that lets you slap on a SSD (and boot from it) and a USB 3.0 card (both dirt cheap) from Amazon.

Machine won't run the upcoming OSX (who fucking cares) but it will run the latest OS incredibly fast and stable. The boot time is insane. You can slap in a 3rd part GTX 680 and still play Fallout 4 where it auto detects and sets it's video settings to "very high" on bootcamp (I still recommend building a PC for that, but if money is an issue, it's an option). Also, even though the hardware isn't very good for customization, the OS is shockingly great at it.

If you have an Nvidia card, many games work now days. All of blizzard's games work through wine. Steam has the same amount of games for linux as it does mac.

Finally upgraded this morning. Was surprised to see it basically left my desktop and all my files exactly as they were. Was not expecting that in the slightest.

Everything feels slow and clunky. It keeps double clicking on a single click. The window snapping is completely broken and just resizes and snaps completely as it pleases.

Those are your options. The update will be served through windows update the same as all others, and since you can't pick updates to install, you don't have much of a choice.

The only hope is that the update could be disabled in the same way as any other by using Microsoft's update hide tool, but I doubt they will allow that.

Make a partition of about 10-15gb.
Download ubuntu iso
Right click and burn iso to disk
Boot machine with the disk in the drive
Press f12 (normally depends on bios) to access your boot order... tell it to boot from the disk.
Install ubuntu to the new partition.
Take disk out and reboot.
You now have windows and Linux installed.

Because windows has no support for ext4 it will not be able to access or see stuff on the 10gb drive. But ubuntu will be able to access your windows partition with no problems since it supports windows ntfs.

I recommend looking up a architect linux tutorial on youtube. If you do that now you can have a linux system set up and know how to use it in 2-3 hours.

Really surprised at the amount of people that still are putting up with Microsoft's bullshit after the shitfest that is Windows 10. Being public about mining data should have been an instant red flag to switch to another operating system. Seeing people panic over their updates, downloading placebo anti telemetry software, and just giving up and embracing the botnet seems pretty bad. I don't play much vidya anymore aside from emulation, so I went ahead and tried ganoo slash leenoox. It was frustrating at first since I've been desensitized to M$, but I ended up loving it. Windows is fucking garbage, holy shit everything is better here. If anything you can go even further beyond and make a Windows KVM so that it can live on the corner of your drive.
