>free upgrade running out soon
I have 3 systems /g/ :
>1 laptop running gnu/loonix.
>1 dedicated Steam Big Picture machine running windows 7 (ONLY used for gaming). I don't even have a keyboard hooked up to it.
>1 desktop running windows 7 for casual stuff (everything else non gaming related)
My question is for the dedicated machine. Will I see a performance boost if I upgrade to windows 10? Will I need to re-install all of my steam games (400+ games installed on that system)? How nominal is the performance boost for gaming from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Modest Specs:
>GTX 760
>4 gigs of ram (a little low I know)
>AMD Phenom II X4 960
I pretty much don't care about the Orwellian surveillance on that machine as it's essentially a glorified console. Or will it bleed into other computers on my network (do some sketchy arp spoofing bullshit to see what other computers are doing)?
Anyway, thanks for the advice in advanced it's been years since I posted here.

It's not free because the source code hasn't been released.
It's a downgrade.
Install Gentoo.

Soon.. 2 days to go and free Linux forever. Win win.

I've heard it said that there's a 5-10 fps gain in modern games. Just back up and restore your steam games. The system is pretty efficient theses days. You don't have to reinstall if you upgrade, but clean install is better. Get the license now even if you go back.

Seconded.
Only 2 days left and I can't make up myself.
My dedicated machine has pretty much the same configuration and purpose as OPs.

In 2 days I will have no reason to not use linux.
