Does /g/ talk about overclocking?
My i5-4670K can do 4.3 GHz at 1.25 V.
4.4 GHz requires 1.34 V to be stable.
Did I lose the silicon lottery?
I stopped at 4.2. I get over 120 fps in the games it's needed other games have been sped up by my ssd. It's nice to have single core performance comparable to i7s though.

I want to OC my CPU and GPU to get at least an average of 75fps on witcher 3 as my monitor is OCd to 74Hz
I get a pretty steady 55-60 with everything maxed including hairworks.
By OCing my 6600k and 1070 is it possible to get a 10-15fps bump? My current load temps are 50c for CPU and 60c for gpu

Hmm, damn. I know CPU clocks don't affect games that much, but I play a couple games that are very simulation-heavy and thus CPU-bound.
What's the fastest single-core clock you can get? Still the 6700k?

I don't know about that model, but I got a game-stable 6% frame increase just by adjusting the clock frequency in MSI Afterburner - no overvolting, i.e. super safe. That's at +75 MHz GPU core clock. At +80 I got crashes during stress testing.
Don't know if a 25% increase could be doable if you overvolted a bit too
my old PC benefits from overclocking to the maximum
x5470 @ 4.1ghz
hd5850 2gb ram
without clocked GPU I have significant fps drops in battlefield hardline. But when overclocked, everything is smooth without drops
I just love it.
