I didn't even know that this existed until I saw this thread. In the end installing Arch, pacstrapping an all, is not a long or hard process. What is the point of this or the install script?

Kinda my main gripe about this and other installers. I thought the Arch's main gimmick was that you're "building everything from the ground up" by customizing a bunch of stuff before and during installation. Automating that process kind of defeats the purpose of using Arch in the first place, since after the install it's just like any other bleeding-edge distro (Fedora for example).

Or... is it? Maybe I'm just missing something.

I feel the same way. Going from the ground up ensures that your computer has what you need and want on it. If I installed Manjaro or something like that, while I would enjoy the same package manager, I would have to rip our the DE, WM, audio player, web browser, and, well, everything, as I don't like any of the defaults. It isn't easy to look up what every single package that your system came with does as opposed to looking them up one by one as you find that you need something and decide to install it.
