Surely /g/ can come to a conclusion on which DE is the over-all best?
Things to consider:
Workflow
Stability
Appearance (Gnome default icons look unsatisfactory for 3rd world countries)
Thumbnails
Resource Dedication (Yes, it's 2016 and some Europoors care about this)
A tiling WM.

Anything but gnome the greatest failure of gnu so far.
Fedora using gnome+wayland. Buttery smooth.

I have a question. Is KDE Plasma still shit? My normal boot times are about 10 seconds with Gnome 3.20. With KDE Plasma it's about 45 seconds.. anyone else experience this?
XFCE of course.
I am on Manjaro KDE and it is the best DE and I used all of them over period of 1 year.
Although I didn't receieve any updates from manjaro for almost a month. Dont know whats that about because I get the google chrome updates.
XFCE is strong #2. Used it the most of my linux experience until few months ago.
I love gnome.

>Is KDE Plasma still shit?
yes, takes forever to login even with a decent nvme ssd and cpu and plasmashell has a shit ton of obscure bugs which cause the desktop to become unusably slow from non-default panels to wigets to the stars not being aligned
not sure how common this is either but at least a year, if I don't set xorg up manually kwin will occasionally not startup properly and my second monitor will become black with no desktop (context menu etc) which really messes up the panel settings especially because moving panels between monitors is damn near impossible
I still use it day to day but I'm seriously considering switching to gnome with a non-shit window manager or going full fledged dynamic wm like awesome or something

KDE with the default K-only applications. Trust me.
Just use your intel GPU for everything. If you want to virtualize passthrough your other GPU

Unity is great. Way more stable than even KDE was back in the good old 3.5 days. The default unity config is SANE and has good keyboard shortcuts.
