How does one script a Bot to recognize text/buttons on screen to perform functions?

Does the script read the HTML and search for specific Tags? X/Y Mouse Coordinates?

I don't understand how people say "learn python in 2 weeks and script a bot" - I remember reading about Runescape bots, which would track objects directly from source code, and do a visual check on screen for items/mouse locations but i do not understand the implementation details

Could someone shed some light and elaborate on how this would be done. For example how would you design a bot to create accounts on a website ( implementation specific, not the random generator aspects )

Why don't you just look for the original image and save that instead of one that's been watermarked by a site that fucks up images with ads to promote itself?

the watermark doesn't bother me, the image of roots cracking rock provided an aesthetic form of food for thought

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
