Can X and a reasonable video player run on 64MB of RAM and a MIPS32 200MHz CPU (embedded board) ? The board has composite video out, USBx3, 10/100 LAN, SD Card reader etc. Currently on it is Linux 2.6 and some proprietary shitty TV recording software.

playing any video format that's not from the 90s will require HW acceleration, if it's some proprietary crap there's a good chance it won't work without the TV software...
