I need to generate random numbers with a Poisson distribution in Python, this is my first time in this little program
random.randint(0, 1)
done

Generate a random (real) number between 0 and 1, then find (the integer) x so that the CDF of the Poisson distribution from 0 to x is equal to the randomly generated number. Idk about any of the intricacies of python, which is why i didn't say int or double types
Surely you could just do this in R.
You're not trying to get us to do your homework are you, sneaky anon?

a poisson distribution is defined by a value for lambda as well. what do you want it to be?
it looks like you have to do a table lookup.
