Probably the best a poorfag build could get, IMO. Still gives room for expansion later as well.

Used is always the way to go if you're spending less than $700. Not to mention, if you can scrounge up $60 more you can add an e5-2670 for 8 cores!

Cheaper total cost of system, better single thread performance.
>>
>>55751279
Pretty sure the FX series doesn't have integrated GPU.
>>
>>55751302
lol, he appears to be relying on the integrated graphics of the motherboard, which is the ATI Radeon HD 3000. It might be able to play 1080p video.
>>
>>55751298
The two CPUs are the same price. Single thread performance not better.
>>
>>55751329
Single thread performance IS better, total system cost on the 880K is much lower. Compare motherboard costs too.

When you're done come back and suck some more dick.
>>
>>55751343
you're wrong. The single thread performance of the MD FX 4350 is superior to the single thread performance of the Athlon X4 880K. Both CPUs cost $83. Comparable motherboards are same price range.
>>
>>55751164
>>55749986

not really, that PSU is going to fry the shit out of it while the z420's delta electronics is going to hum along for 10 years without a hiccup
>>
>>55751377
Even if that were true (and it's not), another reason would be that the 880K is lower TDP, thus enabling lower-cost system overall once again.

I really like your builds.
I too enjoy browsing for used parts. With eBay's buyer protection, it's actually okay for most things except hard drives.
>>
>>55751475
I really like what you've done. I noticed you're using pounds. Can you help me put some ebay parts together for a rig using ebay usa?
I want some suggestions and I don't really want to spend more than $100 for my cpu and motherboard. What do you suggest?
>>
>>55751495
>caring what it's for when it doesn't make enough of a difference to consider switching over

>>55751510
eh, you're right. I'm actually surprised that with less cache it does better in MC; that goes against intuition.

I any case I stand by the 880K choice; it's still just a better option for the cheap builds. It also comes with an objectively better cooler: https://youtu.be/X9Q_cm2hT1c?t=4m9s
>>
>>55751590
OP if you're OK with buying used, look into grabbing up an old HP or Dell dual socket workstation - even as old as socket 775 will provide you with very good bang/buck performance and quality parts. The only difference is that you'll have to watch your single core performance because there's no way to OC and the stock speeds are lackluster - it won't be a good solution for ALL games, but it will actually perform better than my 880K at many NEWER games.

8 threads with no IPC to speak of. There is a reason i went with a i3 6100 over a old Xeon. Future upgradability and poorly threaded games.
>>
>>55752153
Oh, I absolutely agree. But it would, at present and in the future, outperform your i3 in some of the more demanding games today. I would know, I'm currently rocking a xeon from this generation in my main gaming rig and it shits all over that i3 in the same situations an FX-8350 would.

It's 300 fucking bucks for the same GPU and more RAM, too. It's a great deal, desu. Kinda wishing I had an excuse to drop on it right now.

Lots of good choices out there, but as performance per dollar goes integrated graphics win until you can afford a 500 to 600 dollar range. Large storage while convenient doesn't add performance.
There is a basic assumption that you're looking for new not used, os is free, and you have peripherals like monitor and keyboard and mouse etc. Ideally you'd even already have a case because that few extra dollars is a giant leap in performance, I'd go so far as to suggest screwing it to a piece of wood for the extra budget.
Nobody needs optical drives anymore.
This isn't the best but it's about as good as it gets and priority will be to add a decent graphics card when the budget allows, maybe upgrade cpu cooler, then storage then more ram, going from single channel to dual would be a big bump in performance, might even swap from 1x8 to 2x4 just for that jump. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/8J3ykT

its poop but a dual core is silly in 2016. cpu benchmarks are low but it seems to hold its own with pentiums in gayman fps, while being able to do more than one thing at a time.

what do you want for a complete tower that costs less than most gaymers cpu and cooler?

Id go for higher mhz ram, apu's really benefit from it.

To be honest, it's really not. There's pre-loaded ones that you should avoid, but you can still get the pure .iso file and use Daz Loader on it to activate.

Intel Nvidia are more expensive in every tier of performance, regardless of performance. AMD might not beat as raw output but as performance per dollar they can't be beat.

You can adjust in bios, that's just default clock, if you're building a pc this cheap you NEED to adjust everything in bios, (uefi)
>>
>>55755359
Truth. Regardless of memes and jokes, AMD is unbeatable in terms of value, especially for budget rigs. Nvidia is more expensive due to the brand, like Apple, and while that's fine, it has no place in budget computers unless you get a 775 socket and get a used Q9400 for $50 which is the best for that socket (excluding the extreme and overpriced quad) and still holds up strong today. Or a Q6600 and overclock.

I just moved to the UK and had to sold my desktop PC before leaving my country and... wtf, can I get that last PC for only 216 pounds (I kept one ssd)?Does that include the shipping from ebay?

That would be quite better than my laptop... specially for bf3 and csgo which are more CPU limited than anything.
>>
>>55755278
By swapping cpu for x4 845, removing case and using wood or cardboard, or water jug etc be creative, and increasing budget to 500 you could get an r9 380 and increase performance exponentially... But if stuck to same 400$ even that extra case money can get you a lot of extra performance on cpu or better components

A revision still under 400 but without graphics card, instead upgrading ram quality and cpu

"Desktop owners will be careful as well, given the mobile parts only had eight lanes of PCIe 3.0 for graphics, and this continues for the desktop part. This limits the X4 845 to single GPU configurations as a focal point.

So all in all, the X4 845 should be heading in the bin: a high powered, low efficiency Carrizo that should perform on par or worse with similarly rated Kaveri APUs. Unfortunately we weren't able to source identical TDP units for this review, but as the IPC comparison will show, Carrizo and the Excavator microarchitecture is a big step forward in the Bulldozer family of microarchitectures over the Steamroller core and the Kaveri design."

if you include rebatesand toss AESTHETICS out the window you can build a 845/380/8gb@2400 w/ case for the $400 limit. i think the gpu would be bottlenecked though

I own a system running a socket 775 core2duo e7400 w/ ddr2 ram and no gpu.

whats a better upgrade?
g4400 w/ ddr3 mobo
athlonx x4 <the best> w/ ddr 3 mobo?

(ddr4 cost as much as ddr3 but the mobos are like 2x-3x the price because vendors don't sell the cheap models here for some reason)

btw, the only games i play are openttd, dcss, flash games and emulators. i spend most of the time browsing shit or programming so i dont have a need for gpu.

Cheapest Case
$34.98

Grand total $545.94

I bust, but the $10 extra dollars are probably worth it for the 7890K + Wraith cooler. No Peripherals, No OS. And Australian prices are worse than just the exchange rate, so I'm sure you can build a better PC in America or the EU regardless. This computer is gonna be very quiet too. Might actually build this, But I'd probably go for an SSD+HDD combo instead of the SSHD, and I'd get faster RAM and a nicer Case. And probably a disk drive.

an 845 will hang with an 8320 in single and quad core and a 380 blows the 950 away and that laggysys 480 psu wont push enough real wattage to handle that and will burn up possibly taking components with it.
