If you have a home media server like plex or emby you can stream from there.

You can add Dashclock extensions like weather and news scrolls, or have your own photos as a slideshow.

It's also good for streaming music, but theres a ton of apps to let you cast local media.

I've been able to cast nes emulated games to the screen with a bluetooth controller and the latency wasn't too bad.

If you don't have a smart tv its the best dongle.

I got mine free through that Android Pay promotion.

I recommend the ethernet adapter, especially if the dongle isn't in the same room as the router or if you plan on playing high bitrate.
