im the the same boat, i got a evga gtx 970sc and was looking into the 480 or 1060 or something else. the gain from switching is minimal, decided its not worth the extra few bucks out of pocket if i sold my 970 and did the hassle of selling. i'd wait till something else comes out or 1080 1070 prices drop. or if 980ti and such drops price a fair bit
