C has libraries for just about everything. And if you don't like them, you can write your own.

The entire point of libraries is that I don't have to write my own. Telling me that I can just reinvent the wheel everytime I want to do anything is unhelpful.

That wouldn't happen if you learned to program correctly; the bulk of what you learn in programming isn't language exclusive, and C happens to be very good at teaching the core concepts of programming due to it's design and nature.

It's not because of C you can't program, it's because you're fucking retarded.

Opposite for me

C:
>small number of keywords
>small standard library
>structs and unions are incredibly straightforwards
>most complicated things are pointers, which when you get used to them are also really simple

Java:
>fucking huge standard library. You pretty much need the API open at all times
>package.com.dickfactory.faggot implements interface extends class

Java is undeniably powerful, however. If I was writing some large application most likely I'll use it over C
>>
>>55742553
lol
>>
>>55739578
C has no good general libraries for neural network building and optimizing, and writing one is way out of scope of what a person should do with his time.
>>
If C had d style templates, modules, reflection, function overloading, and C++ style operator overloading it would be absolutely perfect instead of just plain old perfect

I basically wish we had a really low level language like C that had all those nice compile time features that modern languages have

I know that this is a dumb shit flinging thing, but the "10,000 lines of boilerplate" give you a better understanding of what that "1 line of python" is doing, as well as more precision and control over what's happening.

You sacrifice precision and control for the abstraction and ease-of-use. Python is great for writing C programs quickly and easily. C is great for writing assembly programs quickly and easily. Assembly still gives you the most control over what's going on, and people still read/write in assembly to this day.

Use the right language for the right job.

>python babies tell me to stop trying to program a mass downloader in c because python "just werks"

Just because you don't understand how protocols and tcp connections work doesn't mean I have to stoop to your level. If you don't know how to do it in a low-level programming language you don't know how to do it.

Rust and C pretty much serve the same purpose
But one has memory safety and the other causes security issues due to lack of memory safety

But the original implementations in the libraries are already the closest you'll get to F1 tires. That image is actually a good argument for why using many different languages is a good thing

Use the right tool for the job. 99.99% of real-world professional programmers aren't writing device drivers, ultra-portable compression algos, or console game inner loops. They're writing business logic apps. They write Java and SQL. Not C.

There's a reason this is done. (Most) managers aren't retarded. For every TDWTF enterprise horror story, there are a dozen Java business apps humming away, working perfectly, that you will never hear about.
>>
I don't know how to program at all and I think you're all kind of pathetic. Watching you guys argue about programming languages is like watching hobos fight over a moldy sandwich, it's just sad. Go program in your language of choice, and keep the bellyaching away from /g/.

it would have been a fitting comparison if all blocks were in the wrong holes.
the sad thing is, language designers would then proceed to make the blocks out of playdoh so C drones can fit the blocks through the wrong holes, because god forbid you don't have a language that isn't just "C yet again but with X".
>>
>>55755107
not the same anon but you gotta admit that C vs any new language is always a shit comparison
It's always something old and established holding people back by old historically grown clutter and inconsistencies versus...
well to be honest something new and ambitious holding people back by old historically grown clutter and inconsistencies... but only a decade or two down the line.
Noone can win this
arguing about these things is retarded
