I've been using project fi on my nexus 5x for the last 6 months and mostly it has been great. The only big downsides for me are the no email portal (cannot send emails to my project fi number like with any other service) and since i am using my old google voice number as my project fi number i cannot view my texts on my desktop unless i use the hangouts app (which is complete shit imho. Anyone have any work around's for these annoying problems?

you can turn the chat in your gmail window to hangouts without needing to use the hangouts app. Not sure if you'll like that any better, but at least you don't need that stupid app.

Ever hear of wifi?

Got in on that sweet $150 for 4x unlimited LTE lines from T-Mobile and split it with family members. Project Fi pricing is a huge dissapointment.

I'm using mightytext after giving up on hangouts' bullshit for the moment. The phone has to be connected to wifi/have data on for it to work, but it's better than nothing. Lurking for better options.
