for starters, linux does not have a driver for my ethernet nic: Atheros AR8161.. it thinks it does, it shows that it's connected but the internet doesn't work. all of the tutorials for setting it up are 4 years old.. and by now, shit should work out of the box

then i try installing playonlinux... i go into the software store and it's not there.. so i try installing it via the command line, and it freezes on some windows font menu

tl;dr why is linux so terrible?

ubuntu was always shit.
and playonlinux is in the official debian repos. since ubuntu is just a broken copy of debian testing/unstable i'm sure it's in ubuntus official repos too
