And on the non-consumer end of things, Japan also makes a lot of industrial tech that's world-class, from companies like DMG Mori, Okuma, etc.
Another niche, if you count them as tech, is watches. Seiko and Citizen make great and often innovative products, but are frequently "forgotten" since they're mostly at the low end of the market.

Music gear is a good category too. Korg and Zoom are a few more examples.
nippon chemi-con produces decent capacitors

Consumer electronics wise there isn't much to discuss in terms of Japanese
Still plenty of good industry and enterprise companies
Why Japan so good at technology?
Why not Poland?
Toshiba's hard drive division is hot shit.
>>55723697

http://www.consumerreports.org/lcd-led-oled-tvs/why-you-might-be-having-a-tough-time-buying-a-panasonic-tv/
plasma screens were always superior to LCD/LED (might still be better than OLED) and didn't seem to do well. Panasonic/Toshiba TVs have typically been my favorite but theyre all but gone in the US... Toshiba TVs became some kinda weird Best Buy only brand, and every other TV is a fucking screen-lottery Samsung or used-to-be-generic Vizio. LG's are aight, I guess, but seems the worst Koreans somehow BTFO the Japanese in more than one major consumer market for the West. How??? I have no clue. Aliums?
