Wow, they now actually deliver Linux compatibility layer for Windows. This means that Microsoft now starts to play by our rules.
Remember how 10 or more years ago Microsoft was actively opposing open source, starting with Gates's "Letter to hobbyists". Today they are shipping lite version of visual studio to Linux and create compatibility layer for it. They now have to deal with us to stay on par with successful competitors of today (Google).
I consider that as another victory of Gnu/Linux and FSM.

I'm wondering why you'd bother getting a Linux userspace when it's the kernel that's the biggest problem with Winslow

What the fuck?

This is the first I've heard of anybody ever criticizing the Windows for having a slow kernel. Most normal people dislike windows because of, yknow, the “I own you” corporate attitude of Microsoft, rampant corporate apathy towards security (like fucking scrollbars in the fucking kernel), forced upgrades, NSA spying, etc.

Have you tried other OSes? The difference between Windows and Linux performance is like that between an HDD and an SSD
>>
>>55721797
I've been using Windows for half my life and Linux for the other half of my life and I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about
>>
>>55721738
lol @ him. using 100 packages. learn to arch nigger
>>

It doesn't make me feel anything, it makes me think that you're not very smart though.

i've been a windows user for years
like, more than 10
and even used windows 10
and i have to say, windows is not bad at all
but one day I just went all in, and went for arch linux (i do have experience working with linux systems, from my job)

my laptop literally lasts 1.5 hours longer doing the same tasks on linux
the amount of customizability i have is nowhere near what I had in windows
not needing to download exes for doing stuff from shady websites anymore is amazing
and that's just some stuff of the top of my head, there are a lot more other reasons using linux is better for me
I will never go back to windows, it's inferior, you just can't argue with that

In 2008 loonix distros were much faster but not nowadays except for slitaz and similar
>>
>>55721947
Most users are not going to be arch users and terminal junkies off day 1.

For average normie distro users, you battery life is probably not going to be significantly better, and may even be worse, out of the box.

Yes, if you run less bloated programs then your PC will end up doing less and therefore your battery will last longer and everything will be faster. However, most people prefer the bloat and slowness. Don't ask me why, I'm also a terminal junkie and find this much more comfortable, but to each his own.

I'm not 'muh minimalisticz' fag
I use gnome, and there is nothing that I had in my windows setup and don't have on arch
And still the os performs alot better, has features that are not setup easily in windows, if at all

I understand why windows struggles, and it is ok, they have to supply an os that works perfectly only with gui and handle a lot of stupid people cases, that eventually just want to browse facebook
It still doesn't make it less inferior
yes, I will have open a terminal and fix shit I fucked up in arch, and I have to be comfortable with that, but hey, you're in /g/, not 9gag

>>55718660
Like I don't understand why you're using cygwin when you have Bash on Ubuntu on Windows 10™ available
>>
>>55722233
Cygwin for retards, if that makes any sense
>>
OP, apart from your OS being afflicted with Multiple Personality Disorder since its UI is a Frankenstein jumble of multiple OS UI's;
are you seriously asking GNU/Linux users, most of which are desktop users mind you, what their opinions are of an OS that forces touchscreen/handheld UI cancer elements and functions onto a fucking desktop space?
Are you mentally retarded?

Windows is fully bloated and ultra botnet, they included the bash to keep the users. People choose Linux because is not a slow fuck, spy OS, 'something happened' system. Ntfs is shit, Windows 10 added 100 more bad sectors to my HDD, I have 350 now. Linux never caused me bad sectors. There are a lot of reasons why I prefer Linux, forget about muh privacy and freedumbz.
