Be honest /g/, do I really need to know Java to have a job that isn't on web dev industry?
You don't really need it but it certainly increases your chaces for getting a job.
Just dont learn C/C++ or your forever be a NEET like the rest of this losers on here.

It's not like I want to be writing code all my life. If I wanted that then I would have taken shitty online courses instead of applying to university.

Programming is a career, not a job.

If you know c/c++ along with assembly you can get a job with an i.o.t. company. Java took over most business applications because of ease of programming and portability. One of the major issues businesses are facing is the inability to migrate old code to new systems.
Java is actually often used for backend web dev. If you're okay with that, C# is an alternative route you can take.

Sorry, there was no "programming" career in any university, there was a course on it, first semester.

I was thinking about approaching Java through Kotlin, without having to actually write any Java line.
