I mean, it did it to me. But it will only do it one time and idk if it will if you have your MP3s separate in a folder and then you open them with iTunes.
I have only called Apple Support once and I grilled the poor guy for 30 minutes about how fucking shitty that was.

I'm sure they're aware. It seems more of an issue with how Apple Music is handled. Did you have that enabled? I know that I don't like cloud services enough so I usually disable them.
What it also does is organize your music differently. I had a little bit of trouble with specific albums with bonus tracks and different artists.
