Depends on the area, really.
There are already areas where the pay went drastically down, e.g. see web dev.
But on the other hand even if you have thousands of poos and hipsters with javascript, there will still be areas that are too "boring" or too "hard" for the big majority, so these areas will never be overrun and will still have decent pay.

Because contrary to what /g/ wants you to believe, programming jobs and other computer science related jobs, are actually quite well paid.

Don't listen to the jewish lies /g/ spout about how the market is saturated with cheap indians and girls; they only want to keep their fat salaries for themselves.
>>
>>55700305
Why are you frightened? Afraid truth is still out there?
>>
>>55699289
The media has highlighted the few people who struck it big. There is some kind of prevalent perception that if you learn "computers" you could be the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. This has been fueled more by a number of newer tech company that started with coding,
>because Facebook's fiscal success was solely do to good codding and had nothing to do with social connections or capitalizing on other factors that were in play which rarely happen.

To be honest I plan to start getting into it, mainly as the barrier to entry is so low that anyone could pick it up. However I also know that such low barriers means a flood of stupid wannabes that make it harder to succeed. But my goal is not so much to succeed, as it is to keep my engineering mindset working. Sadly I don't have the resources to build experimental aircraft and other things more in line with my skills and interests, but I can build experimental code which uses a lot of the same mental muscles. And I got to use them or I would go mad with boredom and loose a good chunk of my intelligence. I can already feel it slipping away as none of my jobs use a fraction of my mental capabilities.

>>55699360
Yes, we see this time and time again. Schools are teach what was the next big thing, when they need to tech what will be the next big thing. This is partly why our labor market is so jacked up and every 2~5 years a great paying job field falls apart badly.

On a larger level we need to admit not everyone can be whatever they want. But that is a much bigger debate that should go to /pol/

irony in a post... because it is saturated is why there would be jewish lies about it not being saturated. because more workers means your skills aren't so valuable anymore, that means lower wages and as much as trump followers would like to erect walls to trade, there are no walls they can erect to outsourcing of computer work services like programming that can literally be done anywhere in the world.

H1Bs in the computer science field are the failings of America. Traditionally you had workers that came in and worked while sending a small percentage home. Now companies can get away with company provided housing while pajeets send most of their paycheck home. H1Bs are in a very literal sense bleeding America dry.
>>
Computer science has different fields like practical (programming, database), theoretical (logic, computation theory, AI), technical (computer engineering, embedded systems) and applied (bio informatics) computer science.
Normies are interested in practical computer science because muh games, muh Facebook, muh web development.
If someone is interested in at least one of the other three then you know they're actually interested in computer science
>>
>>55700622
Canada has a way more sensible approach: A company is not allowed to outsource unless they're unable to find a qualified citizen.

A vast majority of programmers don't even need to study CS to be competent, a fact that major companies like Google are slowly starting to realize.

Google still doesn't hire Ruby on Rails faggots. Even having that on your resume is a good way to get blacklisted.

Now that the whole "geeks are all complete losers" stigma is mostly gone people are finally understanding en-masse that tech companies make a lot of money and that they want in on all of this money thinking it'll be easy as hell work. Specially women are now much more drawn to tech than what they used to be.

The problem is that they don't understand that this money is made off some really hard work and it's not anywhere near as easy work as they thought it would. Because of this the retention rate of women in tech is about half of what it is for men, meaning that women literally just quit because their new jobs in tech are just too much work for them.

I hope this eventually evens out and people begin to realize that tech is not a place where you go to make lots of money easily, but rather a place where you go to work hard and possibly make a lot of money.

How do you code in a way where complicated things work, but basic things are almost but not quite correct?

Surely wouldn't totally collapse in a month.

But essentials are majority done by men, garbage collection for example is probably one of the most immediate problems, utility maintenance or power generation would be fail within a week maybe if it isn't already automated in some circles. Sewage could start backing up in a lot of cities, because a lot of these things are not automated.

The supply chain would also grind to a halt because no way to transport goods even their production was automated which majority of it is not. Hope it isn't winter time because your streets won't be plowed. There's a lot there to unpack but you get the idea.

Not saying women don't do important work because some actually do important work, child care is important work for society and they have a important role in health care also.

>I'm pretty sure all my managers up to this point have all been closet racists

My database teacher was pooinloo and gave the class his sob story about his first programming job here and one of his colleagues said "I'm not working with this black cunt" and all the Indians in class gasped and the women shrieked and I had this big stupid fucking grin trying my hardest not to laugh my fucking ass off. Thinking about it now makes me chuckle a bit.

That's sad really I don't care if it's sand nigger pajeet or just plain Oakland nigger. If he can do the job and doesn't act like an idiot leaving his work for others to do then who gives a fuck.

Back in uni a female maths phd taught design & analysis of algorithms (big-O, the unit - though yes it covered more than that), and computer graphics (matrix transformations - the unit) was taught by a female professor (who actually authored some interesting papers).

So that's 2 out of 20 or so units.

because everyone can actually program
like every other fucking basic skill, reading, cooking, farting, you name it.
What's so fucking complex and hard about programming or algorithms? especially with human friendly languages like python, ruby, etc.
>hurr durr i'm programmer i'm doing something that only chosen few can
shut the fuck up

It's not sad at all. I've heard him talk shit about Chinese and how they're disgusting. The fact is that everyone's racist, but to act like a victim especially when you're a hypocrite is a joke.

Sun spent a ton of money marketing it in the late 90s and most of the alternatives at the time either didn't have nearly as much money available for marketing or were pretty shitty themselves. So a ton of companies started using it heavily and now they're way too invested in it to quickly switch to something else.

Oracle is doing a great job of driving people away but it will take decades for it to die.

Today I Dobled*, TTRd, Bridged, and SFRAd two 3.5MVA dry-types for a manufacturing company. This had to be done so that another company that generates > $50B in annual revenue can greenlight the next phase of a major upgrade to a very large co-gen in the United States. After that testing, I went to a local utility and repaired an OCB that couldn't build pressure. Find a woman, any woman, on the planet that can do that. We would collapse in less than a month.

Now on topic, I started out a comp-sci major just because I wanted to make video games. Like many here have suggested I dropped out after two semesters. Grades were fine but it wasn't for me. I then studied electrical engineering, got my FE but took a job as a technician (working under a PE, so won't be long till I can get licensed) after working for a design firm for about four months. Five years in and I have an excellent job. I have ultimate job security. I have almost total autonomy. I'm a "salary exempt" employee and most weeks I'm out the door about 45 hours but get paid for 70-84. I don't feel like a wage slave and I am growing every day. I think that lots of young people enroll CS looking for money or to make games, and I think that most of those people (like me) will drop out. Those that have a true affinity for comp-sci and develop a strong understanding of the field have nothing to worry about re: salary. I see lots of programmers, automation guys, network engineers, and robotics techs/engineers every week. 90% of them are American citizens. Serious companies don't just grab some random dude with a laptop and let him into their facilities just because he's cheap. Maybe webdevs or whatever have to compete with sweat-shop labor, but not the workers I'm around.

*I know the test isn't called Dobling. Just a colloquialism

This >>55699317. And it helps a company to have cheap labor in the fields of programming and IT.
