I checked out TOR and realized it's been broken for years. Even top layer sites have been rambling about how broken it is since 2013 at least.

It seems like Hornet is trying, but at the very least, it looks sketchy. I don't know if there's a secure program or tool that can create a feeling of relative safety for more than a short few months.

How is TOR broken?

Have you seen the massive raids going on.
I mean, it's pretty obvious that the system has been compromised already; after some odd couple hundred totally necessary pedo arrests.

However; a once great /g/man once said that pedos are canaries in the mines, so my nose says that free speech is at risk.

I2p

You're welcome
>>
Freenet

got tons of cp too
>>
>>55696174
The pedo raid was because of a JS 0day in Firefox/TBB.
>>
>broken for years
I guess all those pizza and drug sites that operate for years are all just honeypots then?
>>
No Internet at all is the best option
>>
>>55696931
And guess what. TBB still leaves it on by default...

Its set to low security mode right out of the box. Also uses client only mode out of the box making traffic correlation a breeze.
>>
>>55696201
does it have cp though
>>
>TOR
Oh, look. Capitals.

Still works very well as a shibboleth for those who know next to nothing about Tor, strangely enough.

Never heard of the project you're shilling. I worked on I2P in the early days. I'll say in practice Tor is still the strongest privacy preserving proxy network, simply because of the number of users in the anonymity set.

No tool is infallible, even networks that are in theory stronger than onion/garlic routing. Tor's limitations are well-known and documented on the project's site itself.

But, you know, whatever.

Yeah and guess why? Because most people are too retarded to understand noscript they want something that just werks

Best Korean VPN

If you're referring to the Freedom Hosting operation: that's part of the how, not the why.

Here's the why.

Tormail was hosted with Freedom Hosting.

And Edward Snowden had used the email address [email protected] while trying to show Glenn Greenwald how to use PGP; the video is still up on Vimeo, if you care to look.

Understandably, that was therefore of considerable interest.

The NSA TAO, unable to find exactly where it was, attacked the servers with 0days.

When they popped root on the server(s), which turned out to be shared servers in Eire if I recall correctly, they also found among the sites it was hosting a few child porn sites, and some evidence the admin was at least vaguely aware and didn't care.

They then worked with the FBI as this provided an extremely convenient cover for the operation and parallel construction angle, deployed the Firefox ESR 0day EGOTISTICALGIRAFFE along with something known as a CIPAV as a payload (on every site hosted by the servers, including Tormail - oh, whoops, sorry, our finger slipped, etc) - a simple (but devastating to anonymity) IP address callback, over plain HTTP I believe - and then the FBI gleefully went to town, seizing the server (working with the Irish authorities) and arresting the admin, etc.

The real reason they'd done it turned out to be completely useless; it didn't have any significant information on Snowden's mail spool there, and there were no deanon hits on that email address while they had the server - it was already abandoned.

But no-one's going to shed any tears over a few child porn sites taken down with the real target being chalked up to "collateral damage".

That's not a break of Tor itself at all. It's just that web browsers kinda suck.

TBB is likely to switch to hardened Chromium with the new board, or perhaps Servo down the line.

They need to use a custom browser that only supports basic html. No video. No JS. No websocket shit.

FF and chrome need to be completely abandoned, there's no telling what bugs are hiding in all that code.
>>
>>55696129
Personally, I'd like to see what (if anything) comes from the MIT Riffle project. TOR needs a good alternative.
>>
>>55698603
isnt freenet already a good alternative to TOR network
>>
>>55698134
you cant possibly believe that a vpn provides more anonymity against an adversary that is capable of attacking the anonymity of tor users.
>>

>muh freenet
this meme again?

it's already been documented that it's easy to deanonymize people on it, If you are the only one requesting a rare file on the network it's pretty obvious to anyone watching who is asking for that file.
