Isn't that exactly what the big hype surrounding the 750ti was about. That had no need for cables because it was drawing all it's power from the PCI?
I remember everyone getting hyped about making quiet cable-free HTPCs and Steam Machines with it.

the 950 uses 90 watts of power and delivers a modest 20% performance gain. The 750ti has the best watt performance ratio. Im hoping we can see a 1050gtx with no 6pin and performance similar to a oc 960.

why a 1050? I fucking hate the 960 I have now, it's shit and can barely runs Witcher 3 at high but from the looks of the 1060 I can run the Witcher 3 stable at 60fps
