You guys made me got rational and opted for a new 980ti. $360 USD (i am a plastic Canuckbuck user, so even bigger a deal to me) is the best purchasing decision I've ever made in vidya card.

True, and I thought of it.
The depreciation factor of the 980ti is far less than R9 Fury if I were to sell this. It's possible that Maxwell will be gimped as with Pascal, but Pascal is really a refinement. I think both Pascal and Maxwell will be hit with the gimp if that happens.
The only AMD card right now that may keep value is the 480, which is heralded as the new 7970 and bitcoin miners considering this card. The other cards consume too much power to make that economic argument to miners.
