I understand the novelty of using records and why it would be attractive in a nostalgia type of way but FLAC is objectively superior sound quality.

You can't just say FLAC is superior.
Hell, I can a rip an LP in FLAC if I wanted to.
It's all about the source.
If it is ripped from the master tapes, it should sound good.
Remastered versions usually sound good too.
Most of the songs on hdtracks are ripped from SACD or the master tapes so.

I put the same floppy drive I've had since the 90s into every new build I make just for the hell of it.

sure you can't press your own with ease but you can still record it pretty easily for use on other devices

not going to defend the sound quality hype though, that shit's dumb, vinyl is all about the fun, novelty and the nice album art, it feels much more worth the money to get a really nice embossed album cover with big inserts and frameable artwork than a shitty plastic disk in a shitty plastic case with some cheap paper inserts that will languish on a shelf and be overlooked by everyone
