But I probably would go for this

if I were to buy more

the zeal thick lube can apparently be used on springs too, whereas the krytox thick lube made some testing switched I had feel sluggish.

and I think jukebox looks pretty cool. at least when it's not overloaded with novelty keycaps (which I still don't get the appeal of).

and same, I regret not getting a planck 1976 set too, and I hope to get in on the next planck drop (assuming they do another drop with the wood sides)

Mech keyboard question. I own the K70 RGB, and "w" sometimes doesn't register presses sometimes. I cleaned up the whole keyboard yesterday with isopropyl alcohol & destilled water, especially that switch, but it still hasn't gone away completely. Will I have to replace the switch/is the switch failing because of something that has entered the inner part of the switch? P.S. I have Cherry MX Reds.

Originally an AEK II, had a swedish dude help me with the plate, handwired it, and chiseled out a solid block of maple wood to fit the internals. Still needs to be hooked up to a controller and a finish needs to be added to the case.

you should sell diy kit's
most people will not pay this much for a keyboard but i would easily pay 100$ or so if that means i do the soldering and get the keycaps myself
>>
>>55652089
We're aiming for a $200 kit like the Yoda.

We've done the math over and over and getting the price under $200 seems totally impossible at the moment short of removing the chassis and keycaps from the kit.

However, $200 is our end goal sometime next year, with $300 assemblies for the first retail run.
>>
>>55652116
200 for a kit sounds fine, a bit cheap if anything given that the case is metal and it comes with keycaps
>>
>>55652116
if you remove the switches, the keycaps, and the soldering?

personally i have keyboards laying around that i dont use that i could salvage switches and keycaps from if that means a lower price

i just think making so you choose what pieces you want to purchase is a good idea for something so expensive

you should take a look at how winkeyless sells their customs and consider doing it like they do it (if you havent already)

Silenced Topre or o-ringed tactile/silent Cherry MX. You're probably not going to find one laying around to try out.

There are o-rings you can buy to make them quieter, and as long as you avoid blues you should be okay.
>>
>>55653617
Thanks, I'll look it up.

I mean try one out as in try using a mechanical keyboard, I don't mean any specific model.

I'm not much into DIY tech customization.

Putting o-rings on is literally lifting the keycap off, sliding the ring on, and the replacing the cap. Don't be such a baby.

The DAS uses the cheapest ABS crap that gets shiny after a couple months use, and laser legends that stain on the printed keys. I should know, I sold mine and bought a Pok3r after 6 months.

The GANSS might not be perfect quality PBT, but they're miles better than WASD and DAS.

it seemed like a really nice keyboard when I was doing a bit of a research, would've gotten it myself if that wasn't like the only place they sell it, but the shipping + tax costs to europe would be like 50% extra on top of the price

really solid build quality, the stock keycaps are pbt and doesn't suffer from the pinging noises like the kul for example does

You’d probably want a custom keyboard layout

The US International layout and the German T2 layout have those, but neither use those exact combinations.

Alt Gr is the same as Ctrl + Alt, but Alt can’t be used to input symbols without specialized software because it’s supposed to reserved for application key combinations.

Review: ordering experience: terrible, had to wait at least 2 months after expected delivery
Build quality: good pcb, top plate required filing of each hole so quite bad. No instructions of any kind included.
Overall: Takes a bit of getting used to but customizability is neat as are the small foot print and synthesizer mode. Some important keys are sorely missed without macros. Very cool looks and feels optimum for Dvorak

The laser cutting on the top plate is frustratingly bad. It makes the switches bind unless you file away at it. The rest is alright. Blank keycaps are cool for map switching but it's really hard to arrange them on the board when they're different heights for various rows.

Where can I get modifier keycaps that match these NKPC ones but actually fit on Costar stabilizers?

I mean the ones on the bottom, by the way.

Sell them? I have a HHKB JP and might be interested but international shipping would probably kill any savings made.

Can someone tell me the name of that retarded keyboard which doesn't have any labels on the keys? I don't really give a shit if it's mechanical or not. I just want to force learning the layout without hunting and pecking.

Just don't look down.

Do any of you /g/uys travel with your keyboard? I don't really want to invest in another work keyboard (I don't type much in work, only when I'm writing grants or manuscripts). Is there a nice cheap sleeve I can buy for my TKL?

Nope, if I'm computing away from home I just use my x61. It's got a pretty nice keyboards so it does the job.

literally any keyboard with blank keycaps
>>
>>55666780
I do exactly what >>55666955 does but with a x61s. Thinkpads (at least up until T420/X220) have good enough keyboards that I feel the trackpoint makes up for slight decrease in quality compared to my daily driver.

cm trigger with red switches or quickfire ultimate with browns. I know both are shit but thats all i have

My original plan with the x61 was to get a nice small keyboard to take with it. But once I got my hands on the net book I realised the keyboard was more than good enough to not need it. Plus it's such a comfy size that it seems silly to lug unneeded stuff around with me.

I mean sure they are meme. But I picked mine up for £80 including p+p. Perfect condition. And while I was sniffing at the specs, it's is more than powerful enough to browse, text edit etc (ie. the only stuff I actually need to do when away from home) comfortably. The only upgrade I did was to stick a SSD in it.

pretty sure it's a cherry g80-3000 and has these keycaps https://www.massdrop.com/buy/gmk-ta-royal-alpha-typewriter-keycap-set-2/ using this layout https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QWERTY#US-International

they are good and thick

>>
>>55664009
the fc750 has much better build quality, and comes with some of the nicest thick pbt dyesub keycaps on the market, whereas the qfr is flimsy and comes with thin abs caps.
>>
>>55668528
You can easily take them off. The aluminum base is appealing though.

I'm torn between these two:

Slightly leaning towards the Varmilo because you guys seem to suggest gaterons are superior and I like the look of the keys raised above the base.
Anything I should know before pulling the trigger?

There's a drop on the miami PBT on massdrop.

I don't know shit about keyboards, but I'd like to pick up an AK33 to do this to. Is it chink garbage like it seems it is or will it actually be usable? I've got an breakaway numpad already so I'm not worried about that. I'm just worried about shitty switches.

>>55669678
If they're Gateron or Cherry switches you should be completely fine. Majority of china boards are great, china's greatly stepped up their clone game in the past year.

Is there any way to color non pbt keycaps? They are too fragile to cook right?
>>
I have a mech with exposed switches. While I think it's aesthetically pleasing, it's a bitch to clean even with constant dusting. Stuff gets lodged in between the keys.

Is there anything that can serve as a keyboard cover that you guys have tried out?

I've tried using an old shirt but it looks bad and out of place on a nice desk.

It looks nice enough but for $30, I'd rather keep using the old shirt. It's just a piece of plastic at a huge markup.
>>
>>55669319
They are pretty much the exact same thing, except the Varmilo has floating keycaps and gateron switches.

Would recommend the Varmilo, really enjoying mine.
>>
>>55669976
I have a silk scarf thing I got from china. Before I found that, I just used a cashmere scarf. It keeps most things out and still looks nice.
>>
>>55669976
What >>55670447 said. I've just got a nice piece of material.
>>
>>55670061
I never had a problem with that myself. And IF i really need to clean it I'll just pluck away the keys and wash it that way. I don't think there is any other way to solve your problem than to /diy/ with plywood or something. Shouldn't be too hard/ugly if you got tools
>>
>>55670447
>>55670814
Good point.

The main reason I didn't like the shirt was because it looks bad, it still did the job.

I'll look into getting a nice scarf or piece of fabric.
