So I was given this PC a few years ago as a christmas present, this year I was thinking about upgrading the graphics card. I've never done this before so I don't know if/what is compatible with it and what I should go for and if I need more than just a card. So before I fuck anything up like an asshole I would like some help if you guys could.
I've added the specs in the pic.
I use it mostly for gaming

just get a new graphics card, you dont need anything else

Okay, thanks.
Would a gtx960 be alright or should I go for the 970/980?

Pull the trigger on a 4GB 960. It's plenty for 1080p. Or if you want to wait a bit the 1060 drops today.

I don't think I'd be able to afford the 1060, trying to stay within a $300 budget
The 960's look good though, I'll be sure to get a 4GB version, thanks

You could always get an RX 480 if you don't have any problems with using AMD, or just wait for a price drop on a 970 instead of the 960.

How good would this be?
My advice, and my advice is pretty good since I don't take any of my information from /g/ is that get whatever is cheaper between the 970 and RX 480.
Consider a used 970, as they can be fantastic value. For 1080p a 970 or 480 is frankly overkill but it's such a good spot for value performance (at around the $240 mark) that it's worth getting.
