What's the point of x64 when everything x86 runs on everything?

What's the point of x64 when everything x86 runs on everything? Otherwise you'd have to distribute two different binaries..

yes, x86 has problems from an engineering perspective and is becoming more restrictive thanks to the giants that have made it relevant in the market

As time goes by new freer architectures based on existing tech might become more relevant (see Russia China) due to privacy needs

Arm based chips also have a large potential

Well, windows server and some linux distros already stopped making x86 build
Games which require more than 4GB RAM are next
