They are quiet. How quiet they are depends on what model you get and whether you use the ULN adapters. There's a noise/air flow trade off just like with every other fan out there.

White noise is so nice though. I purposely try to buy the loudest fans. Since my desktop is out of commission I run a box fan in the window and when it's too chilly I just let it blow air at the wall. Keeps it comfy.
