Perhaps. I upgraded everything but my case/power supply, and I've dropped ~1200 so far, including the Rift.

Vive takes such a big chunk out of your cash. You're going to have to compromise so much with the PC components you'll likely get frame drops and then it'll be vomit time.

That'll only get worse as time goes on.
