Why isn't firmware downgrading on all devices capable of firmware updates mandatory by law?

Potentially allows vulnerabilities.

Shouldn't that be up to the owner to decide whether to take the risk or not?

Oy vey! Are you saying you don't want the latest adware?

I remember when you could. Everything after the iPhone 4 is stuck with whatever you upgrade to. I think Apple should just sign all of their firmwares in iTunes servers. Honestly I'd be ok with it if they found a way to void my warranty too. I just want my old iPad to be back on iOS 6. The iOS 7 to 9 update made it slow as fuck. No jailbreak makes it a useless pile of poop.

Yea but you have to remember the majority of cella phone users are tech illiterate and can be taken advantage of
Wait you want to force downgrades on devices? I think it should be allowed, not mandatory. What would be the point of updates then? "No siree, you have to downgrade that device" "But I don't want to, this update is actually decent"

What's interesting, I downgraded my Windows Phone.

That could be because Microsoft tends to backport all their security patches and sometimes even feature updates.
