So got a new laptop recently but it seems to bone itself anytime I play a game above 720p, so anyone mind recommending a decent external GPU rig and graphic card to go with it?

I have this same laptop OP. Your problem is that it's defaulting to the Intel GPU. Go to Device Manager and set your GTX 960M as the default. MSI was retarded when they didn't put in a switch.
