This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Hey /g/, I just got pic related to speed up my old MacBook Pro. OS X boots and installs just fine when the drive is in an encosure, but fails to boot or install when connected internally via SATA. Verbose boot reports
Read error 0x6
whenever I try to boot the SSD from the internal connection. GNOME Disks and the OS X installer both say that the drive is valid and ready for use. Already reset PRAM and SVC to no avail.

I've read on the Apple Support Forums that it might be the SATA cable itself. But I don't understand how it could fail on an SSD if the Apple drive worked just fine using it (or fine enough for me not to notice anything). I tried insulating the cable with electrical tape, but it hasn't worked either.

Another thing is that I stopped reading the Apple threads because some autist kept telling people to replace the cable and talked down to anyone who questioned him. I'm not that autistic my Mac use. I just use it because it gets my shit done right and allows me access to mainstream programs.

So /g/, should I buy a replacement SATA cable for $11-13 on Amazon (I have Prime), or is there something else I should try first?

OSX likes certain drives, they must have a built in temperature sensor

Macs almost only accept drives from a list of drives.
Heck not all ram work with Macs either.
