Let's talk about routers.
What do you use ? Which firmware ?
What is your setup ?
I'm planning on buying the TP-Link TL-WR841N (pic related) and putting ddwrt on it. I want to be able to change the dns (pi-hole) and tunnel everything through a vpn. I don't need speed nor range. Any advice ?

Openwrt can block ads too.

Xiaomi miwifi (previous model with 2 antennas) and OrangePi
It's cheap as fuck, have good 802.11ac wifi and have openwrt support. Optionally you could get cheapest OrangePi, install armbian and it will do 70mbit with openvpn and torrents.

doesn't have gigabit LAN ports, but can be bought dirt cheap for like 10€ off Ebay or even Amazon in new condition

works fine for the most part, got a few running with OpenWRT and Freifunk

that thing is popular in the old days like Linksys wr54g, are u gonna use it as main router? or switch/wap? i wouldn't recommend it for main router.
