Then go for closed backed headphones for better isolation and look for them to have decent battery life. Sound quality isn't going to matter anyway due to noise. When you buy it you have to tell the chinese that you want a sealed box, otherwise they will open it to flash the "global" rom, since the original only comes with english and chineses as default. That's why it came with 36% battery.
For the charging problem, try rebooting this fucker, if still stuck you can always ask for refund, or reflash an updated ROM from the MIUI website.
I had this problem when I bought my Samsung Galaxy S4 a few years ago and updating the ROM solved it.

That's on my "to do" list for the weekend. The DIY frame they sent looks legit enough. It's mfg wood (routered/dovetailed and glued) comes precut and pre-nailed.
